Conceptual framework
We use research literature to examine how the immigration system works and is changing. We bring together key concepts and definitions that help us understand the system as a whole and support its development.
We are examining how immigrants move between different immigration systems and how smooth or discontinuous these transitions are. The immigration system refers to the competence-based such as work and studies and human rights-based such as protection and family subsystems.
We examine these transitions using registry, survey, and interview data, and we conduct experimental interventions in collaboration with our partners.
